The idea of the portal came about when creators Alan Winning and Tina Conidis were planning their move to Cyprus. They found that they were totally overwhelmed with the amount of information available on the internet and quickly identified a niche in the on-line market.
The concept of InfoCyprus.com is built on quality not quantity with the aim of it being the most elite on-line portal for information on Cyprus. All businesses advertising on the portal will have to be accredited within their field of operation or a member of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The portal is also limited to a maximum of 15 advertisers per section therefore making the selection process extremely competitive.
Alan Winning commented, "We want to provide people with quality information about life in Cyprus and will personally ensure that all the businesses that advertise with us share our ethos of quality, not quantity. Initially we are limiting the areas of operation we cover to just nine areas: Property Developers, Real Estate, Car Hire, Travel Agents, Car Hire, Hotels and Hotel Apartments, Airlines, Education and On-line shopping. Our aim is to bring the beautiful island of Cyprus to life online".
As experienced Internet consultants they are both aware of the competitive nature of launching a new portal but firmly believe that infocyprus.com is aimed at a niche market. "We want to attract visitors to our site who believe in quality as much as our advertisers".
